The purpose of these four workshops is to provide actors with an exemplary model of both acting and the teaching of acting, allowing them to reflect on their craft, their delivery, and commit to ways in which they can enhance their work.
Presented in collaboration with An Actor’s Playhouse and supported by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
Target Audience:
Aspiring actors with little to no formal experience in acting
Criteria for Participation:
Age Requirement: 18 years and above.
Prior Experience: No formal acting training required. Open to beginners, aspiring performers, and individuals who are new to acting.
Commitment Level: Must be eager to learn and engage in acting exercises, role-playing, and script analysis.
Expectations:
Actively participate in group activities like improvisation, voice modulation, emotional delivery, and basic performance techniques
Be open to feedback and engage in mock auditions and scene practices
By the end of the day, have a clear understanding of what it takes to prepare for auditions and to start a career in acting
Personal Equipment:
A One (1) minute recorded monologue
A completed application form
Target Audience:
Actors with Intermediate to advanced experience in film, or TV acting.
Criteria for Participation:
Age Requirement: 18 years and above.
Prior Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acting, having participated in formal productions (stage, film, or television).
Commitment Level: Committed to refining acting skills, expanding emotional range, and mastering self-taping and scene delivery.
Expectations:
Engagement: Actively engage in scene work that challenges your versatility and emotional range.
Participation: Participate in advanced feedback sessions and learn industry-specific techniques to maintain success in execution of roles.
Outcome: Enhanced understanding of how to monitor progress in craft building a brand and sustaining an acting career
Personal Equipment:
A prepared One (1) minute monologue.

Target Audience:
Acting educators, coaches, and drama teachers looking to improve their teaching methods and mentor aspiring actors more effectively.
Criteria for Participation:
Age Requirement: 21 years and above.
Prior Experience: Experience in teaching or coaching actors is a must. A formal background in acting or acting training is required.
Commitment Level: Passion for teaching and mentoring with a focus on enhancing curriculum design, actor assessment, and coaching techniques.
Expectations:
Engagement: Actively engage in role-playing exercises for providing feedback, mentoring actors, and creating audition-centered training programs.
Participation: Participate in discussions about the challenges of teaching acting and how to guide students to connect with their roles and performances.
Outcome: Deeper understanding of the task of teaching acting and how to meet challenges well plus, takeaways to execute in the teaching of acting.
Personal Equipment:
Teaching portfolio (if applicable) or examples of previously taught students.
Materials for feedback exercises and curriculum design.
Commitment to Learning: Regardless of level, participants should have a willingness to engage, learn, and apply new acting techniques.
Open to Feedback: All participants must be open to receiving constructive feedback to help improve their acting skills.
Willingness to Perform: Participants should be ready to engage in practical exercises, scene work, improvisation, and, where applicable, mock auditions
